Motorized Shades
In educational facilities, the criteria for window treatments are various: light control, aesthetics, safety, and durability all directly impact the student experience and building efficiency.
Contract Shade recently partnered with a high school in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, to address these needs by installing a motorized shade system in their student cafeteria. This high-traffic, multi-purpose space required a solution that was easy to manage, rugged, and effective at controlling incoming light.
Their new motorized window treatment system delivers critical performance benefits:
Optimal Glare Reduction: The motorized shades allow staff to instantly mitigate harsh sun glare that can disrupt mealtimes, classroom overflow activities, or presentations held in the cafeteria. This creates a more comfortable, usable space throughout the school day.
Enhanced Safety: By utilizing motorized operation, the shades eliminate hazardous, dangling cords common with manual systems, ensuring a safer environment for students and staff in compliance with institutional safety standards.
Long-Term Durability: Constructed with heavy-duty components, these motorized shades are engineered to withstand the rigorous daily use and activity typical of a high school setting.
Intelligent Motor Control Groupings: The system allows for shades to be managed in specific groups (for example, controlling a bank of east-facing windows separately from south-facing ones). This feature provides flexible and precise light management.
Convenient Switch Controls: School staff can control the shades directly from convenient, wall-mounted switch controls. This allows for quick adjustments, including the ability to perform immediate stops, precisely positioning the shades.
This project successfully delivered a durable, safe, and modern window covering solution that enhances the aesthetic and functionality of a key student area at Kewaskum High School.
